Free Professional Development for High School Science Teachers in Oregon!

High School Science for All: Master the "Patterns" Courses 

(Physics, Chemistry, Biology)

The Portland Metro STEM Partnership (PMSP) and Greater Oregon STEM Hub (GO STEM) are thrilled to offer a wealth of professional learning opportunities for high school science educators in Oregon! These sessions focus on the "Patterns" courses within the High School Science for All curriculum, covering Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Here's the good news:

  • Get Paid to Learn: Thanks to the WRAP (Well-Rounded Access Program) grant, participating Oregon high school science teachers will receive a stipend of $50 per hour for attending any online webinar or professional development session.
  • Free Registration: There's no cost to register for any of these valuable courses!

LITERACIES AND MATH FOR OREGON'S K-8 STUDENTS

Corvallis, OR | August 6-7, 2024

Join us for the Educators' Summit, a collaborative effort between Oregon State University and the Oregon Department of Education, funded through the American Rescue Plan (ESSER III). This exciting event focuses on the Equitable Accelerated Learning K-8 project, designed to propel student achievement in literacy and math, particularly for students with disabilities and multilingual learners.

Here's what awaits you at the Summit:

  • Dive Deep into Effective Strategies: Gain valuable insights and practical tools to accelerate, not remediate, student learning in K-8 literacy and math.
  • Focus on Equity and Inclusion: Explore best practices to support the success of all students, including those with disabilities and multilingual learners.

This summit offers a unique opportunity for educators, school leaders, and school counselors to:

  • Expand access to high-quality computer science education for all students.
  • Promote equity and inclusion in the classroom, especially for students from historically marginalized backgrounds.
  • Develop an engaging and effective computer science curriculum.

Choose from multiple Professional Development (PD) opportunities:

Exploring Computer Science (ECS) Teacher PD

  • What: A year-long, research-based computer science curriculum designed for high school. This PD equips educators with the knowledge and skills to confidently teach ECS in their classrooms.
  • Who: Oregon high school educators certified in any subject and interested in teaching ECS.
  • When: July 29 - August 2, 2024

E-Textiles Unit for ECS Teachers

  • What: An engaging, introductory unit that integrates computer science with textile crafts using electronic components.
