Portland Metro STEM Partnership will be holding numerous professional learning opportunities for the High School Science for All, aka "Patterns" courses (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).

Thanks to a WRAP Grant from the Oregon Department of Education, we are able to pay each Oregon high school science teacher participant $50/hour to attend sessions. 

Participants must be registered for the course through Wild Apricot in order to be paid. There is no cost to register for these courses.

  • Learn about fostering understanding, resilience, and a commitment to justice through teaching climate change.

Program application for LiftOff and Liftoff Alumni Summer Institute 2025 is live! 
The LiftOff Summer Institute is a week-long aerospace workshop focused on STEM learning through a space science theme, supported by NASA missions. It offers teachers valuable information and experiences via speakers, hands-on activities, and field investigations.

This year’s theme, Flight Paths Toward Innovation, will focus on groundbreaking NASA research and the cutting-edge technologies that make space exploration possible.

PROGRAM FEATURES


  • Presentations by NASA scientists and engineers
  • Tours of NASA and Space Center Houston
  • Hands-on, inquiry-based classroom activities aligned to educational standards.

Math Coaching and Leadership Network 
Connecting NW Math Educators
These meetings are recommended for math leaders (TOSAs, specialists, administrators).


The MCLN will host monthly meetings, starting Oct. 10.
We will engage with two classic texts in equitable mathematics education: "Principles to Actions" and "The Impact of Identity in K-12 Mathematics" (expanded 2024 edition).

Building Thinking Classrooms Support

Clackamas and Multnomah ESD math specialists are working together to offer Building Thinking Classrooms support for K-12 teachers, math specialists, and administrators:

Observation study of classroom instruction - Paid Opportunity 


Utah State University is recruiting 25 teachers nationwide for a classroom observation study. Participation involves video recording your classroom during a unit focused on enhancing students' computational thinking skills in the 2024-2025 school year. 

Participating teacher will receive a $250 check

STEM Equity Ally: Meet Me at the Intersection of Power and Privilege

Participants will explore power dynamics within
programs, ideas for how to share power with youth, and how to
incorporate youth voice and interests into STEM programs.

CTE Month and NASA HUNCH 2024-25 Student Video Challenge 

Inspire students by sparking their imagination and creativity as well as broadening their knowledge about STEM careers.

 The contest is open to students of all ages, including elementary, middle school, high school and postsecondary students in any school or who is homeschooled. Students may enter as individuals or as a team. However, students can submit only one video per year.
